疑問詞を使った慣用句

Why don't you go to bed early today? You look tired.
今日は速く寝たらどうですか？疲れているように見えるよ。
How about eating out tonight?
今晩外で食べるっているのはいかがですか？
How come you failed the exam?
どうして試験に落ちたの？

Ａ）why not / why don't you （～してはどうですか？）

why not/ why don't youは「～してはどうですか」という提案を表す表現です。通常の疑問文ではないということに注意してください。また、why notの直後にも動詞の原形が入ります。
Why don't you  go to bed early today?

B) what about / how about （～はいかがですか？）

What about / how aboutのあとには名詞が入りますので、動詞を使いたい場合は、ingをつけます。
What about some coffee?　コーヒーはいかがですか？
　　　　　　　 eating out tonight?　今夜外食するってのはどう？

Ｃ）how come （なぜ）

how comeはwhyと同じ意味ですが、直後にはＳ＋Ｖが入ります。
Why did you fail the exam?
         通常の疑問文
How come you failed the exam?
                Ｓ＋Ｖ（肯定文の順序）
なぜ試験に落ちたの？
How come のあとに通常の疑問文などを入れないように気を付けてください。

apply for・・・申し込む
hurry・・・急ぐ

synopsis

疑問詞を使った疑問文を丸ごと動詞の目的語にする場合は疑問詞＋Ｓ＋Ｖの順番にする。
Do you know where he lives?
                            S   V

疑問詞を使っていない文を動詞の目的語にする場合はthatを使うかif / whetherを使う
Do you know that he lives in Tokyo?
Do you know  if / whether he lives in Tokyo?

疑問詞を使った疑問文にdo you thinkなどを組み込む場合は、疑問詞を文頭に出す。
Where does he live?
Where do you think he lives?
