abolish / to不定詞の慣用表現

abolish
他動詞で意味は
<法律・制度・習慣など>を廃止[撤廃]する

abolishを使った英文
The government decided to abolish the new tax in order not to lose any more popularity.
abolish・・・廃止する
tax・・・税
popularity・・・人気

不定詞の慣用表現を勉強します。
in order to 「～するために」
The student studied hard in order to pass the exam.
その生徒は試験に合格するために一生懸命に勉強した。

目的を表す不定詞と同じ意味です。また「～しないために」という意味では、not to doではなくin order not toが使われます。

The student studied hard in order to pass the exam.
The student studied hard to pass the exam.
試験に通るように

The student studied hard in order not to fail the exam.
The student studied hard not to fail the exam.　←not toは不可
試験に落ちないように

enough to「～するのに十分なほど・・・」
He can't speak English well enough to get into a university in English.
彼はイングランドの大学に入るのに十分なほどうまくは英語を話すことができない。

enough to doで～するのに十分なほどという意味ですが、enoughは形容詞・副詞の場合は後に、名詞の場合は前に置かれます。
I have enough time to study English.
                  名詞
He was clever enough to pass the exam.
　　　　　形容詞（賢い）

too～to・・・「あまりに～なので・・・できない」
I was too tired to do the homework last night.
私は昨晩、あまりに疲れていたので宿題ができなかった。
                          ||
I was so tired that I couldn't do the homework last night.

否定文ではありませんが、意味上は「～できない」と不可能を表します。また、for～はto不定詞の主語を表します。too～toはso that　S can'tと同じ意味です。

I was too tired to do the homework.
I was so tired that I couldn't do the homework.

so ～　thatの場合は「あまりに～なので～する」という意味にも使えます。
I was so tired that I went to bed at 8.
私はとても疲れていたので８時に寝た。
