indispensable / 関係副詞 where

indispensable
形容詞で意味は
１．欠くことのできない、絶対必要な
２．避けることのできない、余儀ない

indispensableを使った英文
Cars are indispensable in rural areas where there is no public transport.
（公的な交通機関がない田舎の地域では車が不可欠だ。）

indispensable・・・不可欠な
rural・・・田舎の
public・・・公共の
transport・・・交通機関

関係副詞と～ever
１．where
This is the restaurant where he works.
これは彼が働いているレストランです。
This is where I work.
ここは私が働いているところです。
It was snowing on the day when I was born.
私が生まれた日は雪が降っていた。

先行詞が場所を表す語句の場合、前置詞＋whichの代わりにwhereを使うことができます。またwhereは先行詞が（in）the placeの場合は(in) the placeを省略することができます。

This is the house in which I was born.
  場所を表す語＝where

This is where I was born.
先行詞が省略されているがthe placeだと考える

先行詞が時を表す語句の場合、前置詞＋whichの代わりにwhenを使うことができます。
The day on which I was born was Sunday.
      = when

This is the hotel where I'm staying.
これは私が泊まっているホテルです。

Smoking is illegal where I used to live.
私が昔住んでいたところでは喫煙は違法です。

Do you remember the day when it happened?
それが起こった日を覚えていますか?

whereは先行詞が場所の名詞の時に必ず使うというわけではありません。先行詞が場所を表す名詞であっても関係詞節の主語または目的語であればwhichをとります。
I visited the city which Tom likes.
the cityはlikeの目的語→Tom likes the cityが成り立つ

I visited the city where (in which) Tom works.
Tom works the cityが成り立たない→Tom works in the city.
従ってwhichは不可。in whichならＯＫ。
