Itの使い方

itは時間や天気を表すときや形式主語になるときなどは、なんの意味も持ちません。したがって、「それ」と訳さないようにしてください。

Ａ）時間・距離・天候・日付

It was so sunny that we went on a picnic.

あまりにも天気が良かったので私たちはピクニックに行った。

It was already 9 o'clock so we left his house.

もうすでに９時だったので、彼の家を出た。

Is it far from here to the station?

ここから駅まで遠いですか？

It was his birthday yesterday, so I gave him a book.

昨日は彼の誕生日だったので私は彼に本をあげた。

時間

It's already 9 o'clock.　もう９時だ。

It's getting late.　遅くなってきた。

日付

It's Friday today.　今日は金曜日だ。

It's the 29th of October today.　今日は１０月２９日だ。

It's my birthday.　誕生日だ。

天候

It's sunny.　晴れている。

It was a beautiful day yesterday.　昨日はとても美しい日だった。

距離

It is a long way from here to the station. ここから駅までは遠い。

It's 10km from his house to the library.　彼の家から図書館までは１０kmだ。

It was already 9 o'clock but our destination was still several miles away.

すでに９時だったが、私たちの目的地はまだ数マイル先だった。

destination・・・目的地

It was a beautiful day today so I trimmed the hedge in my garden.

今日はとても美しい日だったので、私は庭の生け垣を刈り込んだ。
