investigate
動詞で意味は
調べる、調査する、取り調べる、研究する

investigateを使った英文
The police will arrest the man whom they have been investigating on a charge of theft.
（警察はずっと窃盗の罪で取り調べているその男を逮捕するだろう。）
arrest・・・逮捕する
investigate・・・取り調べる
on a charge of・・・～の罪で
theft・・・窃盗

３　whom (who) / that

The man whom I met at the party speaks English.
私がパーティーで会ったその男性は英語を話す。

先行詞が関係代名詞の次にくる動詞の目的語になる場合。ただしwhomは非常にフォーマルに聞こえるので日常会話で使われることはあまりなく、代わりにwho / thatを使うか省略してしまうことが普通です。

先行詞  　the manはmetの目的語なのでwhom / who / that/　省略
The man   whom I met at the party     speaks English.

I met the man at the partyが成り立つことに注意

The man whom I met at the party speak English.
The man who I met at the party speak English.
The man that I met at the party speak English.
The man I met at the party speak English.

The man who I see on the train every morning always looks tired.
私が毎朝電車で見かける男性はいつも疲れているように見える。
Yesterday, I met the old woman that I had helped last year.
昨日、私は去年に助けた女性に会った
